An established art gallery in the Kinigi houses conservation-themed artworks, cultural objects, and many handicrafts made by local women and youth groups living in these areas. It serves as an arena for local musical dance and theater acts by the locals. The project also aims to identify, exploit, train, nurture and develop all forms of artistic talent.
Handicrafts and arts contribute to poverty reduction, improved livelihoods and ultimately the conservation of the Volcanoes National Park and the environment due to the reduction of over-reliance on forest products and wildlife for a living.
Timuntu Travel encourages the sharing of knowledge, skills and general interactions and experiences between travelers and local communities. This contributes to the promotion of more sustainable tourism and a better appreciation of the natural tourist attractions of the Volcanoes National Park.
